Have you ever heard the joking phrase of "I'm fine, we're fine, everything is fine" and it's being said by someone who is clearly NOT fine! For example Ross in this episode of friends, he is clearly not fine!
I mean, lets be real, what does being FINE really mean? Is that truly the goal in life?
This statement can be dangerous to live by because speaking on this day in and day out you don't leave much room for welcoming in emotions like joy, excitement, grief, sadness, and anger. While I know you may be thinking well Kim I'd rather live without the latter, it's crucial to feel out all the emotional experiences in life. Another important piece is to create a healing support system within yourself for an abundance of grace and love when needed.
Lastly, avoiding emotional experiences like grief, anger, and sadness also creates an obstacle of avoidance to truly and deeply experience joy, love, and excitement.
Notice what comes up when you hear "I'm fine." if it is so comfortable you can life here, it may be time to dig a little deeper.
